Young moose rescued from Washington pond

On January 3, 2012 at about 10:00 am the Washington Police Department responded to a report of a moose trapped on the ice on Butterfield Pond at Pillsbury State Park. The moose had been on the ice about 70 yards from the shoreline for over 24 hours, but due to the lack of snow cover could not get any footing to move across the ice. Fire destroyed a storage facility at 15 Peaslee Hill Road in Weare, owned by Jeffrey Brown on Tuesday. By the time firefighters arrived, the building was fully engulfed.
